Georgian wine presentation held in Latvia On August 16, 2007 the Radisson Hotel in Riga, Latvia hosted an event jointly organized by the Georgian Union of Wine Producers and the Association of Sommeliers in Georgian. The goal of this presentation event was to raise awareness of the general public in Baltic countries on the counterfeit Georgian wines bottled in Bulgaria, Spain or other countries around the world under the brand names of famous Georgian wines (Khvanchkara or Kindzmarauli) and sold at the main export markets of Georgia. The counterfeit products presented in significant quantities on these markets hamper the sale and supply of genuine and legally bottled Georgian wines. This event in Latvia organized by the Union of Georgian Wine Producers with assistance from the Teliani Valley Company is just the beginning of a bigger effort initiated by the Union to promote and popularize the Georgian wines and combat the sale of counterfeit wines. The similar events are planned to take place in many other countries around the world.
